Choosing a new job after maternity leave - My experience.

When I first learned that I was pregnant I was working as a CNA at a nursing home. I still to this day say there was something in the water there because I was one of four girls who were pregnant.

While I most likely would have stayed here while pregnant (we needed the money) they would not have been able to accommodate me when it I got too big to the lifts and such. Crappy I know, but it was what it was. Thankfully I was able to find a job that would hire me while pregnant and stay at until it was time to go on maternity leave. So there I was working at my local newspaper office in the classified ads department. As the belly got bigger so did my question of how we were going to work me going back to work because as great as the new job it was still a new job and I did not qualify for maternity leave. At this point I could not win.

So as it came to my 8th month, my husband and I sat down to look at our options. We could cover our bills for the first or so after our little man got here but what about after that?

I could go back to my previous job, but the hours were difficult. We could not afford daycare, and we did not have anyone that was home during the day to watch him while I was at work, but the biggest issue I was going to have was leaving my brand new baby boy. So I hit the internet to see what other moms had to say about returning to work after baby, and while some said daycare, some were lucky enough to have a job provided child care. One mom talked about working from home and then the research for that really began, and it has been 6 years, and I have never regretted my decision...well aside from days I have to stay up late to get a job done.

My mind still wrestles with going to work outside the home as my youngest goes to pre-k for part of the day, but it  is still up in the air.

I like being my own boss and working from home. I have been fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom for most of my motherhood, it's just been the last 5-8 years that I have worked from home. Not that I haven' t played with the idea, but I don't think I'd make as much money outside the home to be honest. I've worked hard to get to the point I am at and would like to just increase my income or go back to being mom if my husband finds a better paying job. (wry smile). Being a bread winner can be stressful so can the decisions you find yourself wrestling with. Hope you find peace in whatever you decide.
I have been looking for a work from home job for a long time. I don't whats legit and whats not since i come from a small town. Any ideas that would help me please.

Sorry this is not as personal as responding, but I just don't want to repeat what has already been said elsewhere on the site, you know?
