Do you garden with your kids?
Ever since we started gardening with our kids and when we started our little plot was no more than a 6' x 6' piece of dirt behind our little townhouse, our kids will eat veggies they might not otherwise eat because they grew it!
This year our children had enough land to each have their own little garden and their gardens is basically what has kept our CSA going since June. Not that they are thrilled that most of it is going to our CSA members but they knew if they were using my seeds it was a possibility if anything happened.
And happened it did.....the field we started to use for our CSA ended up not producing anything but a couple lettuce plants, a tomato plant from last year's tomatoes and a few bean plans. :( It was horrible and we are going to fertilize, fertilize, fertilize it this fall to see if it helps and we'll plant our family garden there next year.
But the children planned their gardens, my older son even made his own raised bed which we are going to turn into a mini greenhouse this fall to see if we can grow some things for our family over the winter.
The children are proud of their garden and it was amazing to see how much work they put into something they could call their own.
Right now we are enjoying potatoes, beans, cucumbers, and our tomatoes are finally turning red with all the heat we are experiencing this week! Yay! Then we got one watermelon and a cantaloupe we are going to try this weekend. Can't wait!
Do you grow your own veggies or have you?
