What are homemade treatments that can help with baby acne?

My son had small red spots on his cheeks til about 1 year old.Our doctor said that we want to make sure to clean out saliva from his face every time, as it is also one of the causes of baby acne.

The acne will be most prominent when the baby is hot or fussy (increased blood flow to the skin), or when the skin is irritated. If the skin comes into contact with cloth laundered in harsh detergents, or becomes wet from spit-up saliva or milk, the condition may appear worse for several days.

I used special "baby" detergent, it has natural elements only. Also I did put some baby powder on his face using cotton ball or my finger very careful, because you can get some powder in his eyes, ears and nose.

We used baby detergent too with our first few children but I can't say I remember it making a difference.

I know the acne varied from child to child too though.

I use a moisturizing cream instead of lotion and it has cleared up my son's skin. He had the baby acne or neonatal rash and nothing would get rid of it. It also helps with his dry skin. I also use a detergent that is free of perfumes and dyes. I have heard dryer sheets can affect an infants delicate skin as well. The moisturizing cream I used is: Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Moisture Cream (fragrance free).
